Can you relate? I sure could over the holidays! There I was happily waddling along with all my ducks in a row when BAM! Holidays.
Each little duckling here represents some aspect of my life that was out of control: the kidlings hopped up on christmas wishes and sugar cookies; my vicious cycle of comfort food/guilt/more comfort food; no time for writing or reading (this alone can send small children and animals running for cover in our house). Well…you get the picture.
Things are calming down now. The whirlwind is over and sanity can resume (as soon as the Christmas and New Years Eve decorations come down). I really need some prevention tips, though.
How do you all keep your sanity during the holidays? Do all the festivities energize you or drain you?
Oh my Gosh! Those poor little ducklings! I hope they were all okay!
I know how you feel though. The holidays can sure blindside you even if you’re ready. Normal insanity has finally returned to my house, for which I am grateful!
I get drained from all the hoopla associated with Christmas, but it’s a good feeling too. I didn’t try overly hard this yer to visit everyone. Relatives came and went over a 3 week period and that was fine with me.
I hope your hurricane winds die down soon.

Thanks, Patricia…blindsided is such a good word 🙂
ahh those poor babies. I hope they’re okay. I have actually simplified my holidays a lot. it’s not the exhausting overwhelm it used. still more than I’d like but improving every year. this past one was particularly relaxing
Good for you, Louise…I must learn how to simplify.
Precious video, Shannon. Hope they’ll be all right. I’m feeling tossed about these days, too. But I think it’s more about trying to do too much than the holidays.
BTW – don’t forget to post your award icon in your sidebar!
ooo..yeah, I’m so bad about that! Thanks for stopping by, Alicia!
Wow that is a strong wind. I love how they rally to stay together though 🙂
I know, what a good mama duck!
A good mama duck, but even the babies seemed to check each other out, are you okay? Cute video. Excellent illustration of how we all get blown off course from time-to-time and how you just have to get back up and keep on going!
I thought I didn’t over do for the holidays, but getting sick shows me that I did not get enough rest. I’m back up and trying to following mama duck’s example, I’m off to try to get my life back going. Have a great week, Shannon!
I feel like that during the holidays. Fortunately, for me, New Year represents a giant reset button. I try to leave all the mess behind and start anew. Sometimes it works 🙂
